Everything you need to stay consistent

Built for AnkiDroid learners who want a gentle nudge — not another app to check.

Pick your palette

Choose any background, accent, and text colour you like. Font styles too. Your widget, your palette — total creative freedom.

Import your history

Already an Anki user? Import your past AnkiDroid review history and backfill your widgets from day one — no starting from zero.

Tap and go

Tap the widget to jump straight into AnkiDroid — right to the deck you're tracking. Less friction, more studying.

One per deck

Create a different widget for each subject — whatever it is you're studying. Every deck gets its own widget.

Streak widget

Prefer just the number? Drop a dedicated streak widget alongside your heatmap — a clean count of consecutive days studied, right on your home screen.

Safe and private

Everything stays on your phone. No accounts, no sign-ups, no data sent anywhere. Your study history is yours.

Three sizes

Pick the footprint that fits

From a compact snapshot to a full six-month view — each widget shows your review activity as a heatmap or a clean streak counter.

Install the widget and grant it permission to read your AnkiDroid deck data. One-time setup, done.

Study like normal

Open AnkiDroid and review your flashcards — the same way you always do. Nothing changes in your routine.

Watch it grow

Each day a new cell fills in. The more, the better — your home screen becomes a living record of your consistency.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about AnkiHeat.

Is AnkiHeat free?
AnkiHeat is a freemium app — all the core features (design options, widget sizes, tap-to-review) are completely free forever. Premium unlocks further customization options.
Are there ads on the app?
No. We hate ads as much as you do and will never add any.
Does my data leave my device?
No. All data stays on your device. AnkiHeat reads your local AnkiDroid database and renders the widget locally. No accounts, no servers, no telemetry.
Can I track multiple decks?
Yes. When configuring a widget you can choose any single deck or select "All Decks" to see your entire review history in one view.
Why isn't my widget updating?
By default, widgets update every 15 minutes (Android limitation). If your widget seems stale, ensure that AnkiHeat has permission to access AnkiDroid. Android system may also delay widget updates to save battery.

Alternatively, you can long-press the widget on your homescreen to enter the Editor. There you'll find a troubleshooting menu to help resolve this issue.
Does AnkiHeat work with Anki Desktop?
No, AnkiHeat reads review data directly from AnkiDroid's local database. It does not sync with Anki Desktop or AnkiWeb — only AnkiDroid on your Android device. So only reviews on your Android count towards your widgets.
How do I customize widget colors?
Open AnkiHeat, tap on the '+' button or an existing widget you want to edit, then tap the color swatches. Choose any background, accent color, and any text color. Preview the result instantly before saving. Basically, just like the customizer above!
Why is there no data on my widget?
AnkiHeat starts counting from the day you install it — but you can import your past AnkiDroid review history so your widgets reflect your real history from day one.

On AnkiDroid, go to 3-dot Menu → Export → Export format → Anki Collection Package (.colpkg) → Check 'Include media' → Export to create a backup file.

Then on AnkiHeat, go to Settings → Import Anki History → Upload the .colpkg file you just exported from AnkiDroid.

All data is processed locally on your device.
iOS version??
Due to data sandboxing on Anki's iOS version of the app, it is not possible to access review data from Anki Mobile the same way as on AnkiDroid. There are currently no plans to support iOS.
I have a question that is not answered here.
Please drop me an Email at contact@ankiheat.app. You can also do so via the app's Contact & support section.
